Maatla Healthcare (Pty) Ltd · CIPC registered, South Africa
Version 1.0 · Last updated July 2026 · Effective date: 08 July 2026
1. Agreement to These Terms
Maatla Healthcare (Pty) Ltd is a company registered with the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC) in the Republic of South Africa. In this document, the words we, us, our and Maatla refer to Maatla Healthcare (Pty) Ltd. The words you and your refer to any person who visits our website, uses our services, or receives our messages.
This document applies across everything we operate, which includes our main website at maatlahealthcare.com, the Maatla Academy learning platform at academy.maatlahealthcare.com, the Maatla Facilities dashboard used by clinics, pharmacies and healthcare networks, and our WhatsApp and SMS reminder and check in services, including voice note messages.
These Terms and Conditions are a legal agreement between you and Maatla. They govern your use of our website, the Maatla Academy, the Maatla Facilities dashboard, and our WhatsApp and SMS reminder and check in services. By accessing or using any of these, or by receiving our messages after you have opted in, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.
2. Words We Use
Services. Services means our website, the Academy, the Facilities dashboard, and our messaging and check in services.
Account. Account means the registration that lets you access parts of the Services.
Content. Content means text, courses, videos, certificates, simulations and other materials on the Services.
Facility. Facility means a clinic, pharmacy or healthcare network that uses Maatla Facilities.
3. Who May Use the Services
You may use the Services only if you are 18 years or older, or if a parent, guardian or authorised person agrees to these terms on your behalf and is responsible for your use. By using the Services you confirm that the information you give us is true, and that you are allowed to share any other person's information you provide, for example a family member on your plan.
4. What Maatla Provides
4.1 Maatla Healthcare. A WhatsApp first support service that sends medication and collection reminders, check ins and voice notes to help families manage chronic conditions and elderly care. Reminders are a support tool and do not replace your own responsibility to take and collect your medication or to seek medical care.
4.2 Maatla Academy. An online learning platform offering short, practical health awareness courses with lessons, quizzes, certificates, a leaderboard and practice simulations. Academy courses are for education and awareness only. They are not accredited and do not certify clinical or professional competence. A non accreditation notice appears on our certificates and sales pages.
4.3 Maatla Facilities. A dashboard for clinics, pharmacies and healthcare networks to manage chronic medication collections, schedule time slots, send reminders and manage prepaid credit. Facilities and network operators agree to additional responsibilities in section 9.
4.4 Important health notice. The Services provide support and education. They do not provide medical diagnosis or treatment and are not a substitute for professional medical advice. In an emergency, call 10177 or 112. Please read our Medical Disclaimer in section 11.
5. Your Account
You are responsible for keeping your account details safe and for everything that happens under your account. Tell us immediately at info@maatlahealthcare.com if you think your account has been used without your permission. We may refuse, suspend or close accounts to protect the Services or comply with the law.
6. Acceptable Use
When using the Services, you agree that you will not do any of the following.
Break the law, or use the Services to harm, harass or defraud anyone. Share false information, or impersonate another person. Upload harmful code, or try to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to our systems. Copy, resell or redistribute our Content without our written permission. Use the Services to give clinical advice to others as if it came from Maatla.
7. Subscriptions, Billing and Renewal
7.1 Plans and prices. Family subscription plans are Basic at R50 per month, Pro at R80 per month, and Advanced at R120 per month. Prices and features may change, and any change will be shown on our website.
7.2 Payment and automatic renewal. Subscriptions are paid in advance and continue on a recurring basis until you cancel. Your subscription automatically renews for each new period, and the applicable fee is charged at the start of that period.
7.3 No obligation to remind you. You are responsible for managing your own subscription. Maatla is not obliged to send you a reminder or any communication before your account is billed for a renewal. You should therefore be aware of your billing dates. Not knowing, or forgetting, that your subscription would renew is not a basis for a refund. This is explained further in our Refunds and Cancellation Policy.
7.4 Cancellation. You may cancel at any time. Cancellation stops the next renewal and takes effect from the end of the period you have already paid for. We do not provide partial refunds for a period that has already started, except in the limited cases in our Refunds and Cancellation Policy.
8. Academy Purchases and Certificates
Academy courses may be bought individually or accessed through a plan. Access is granted once payment is confirmed. Certificates issued by the Academy confirm completion of an awareness course only. They are not accredited qualifications and do not certify clinical competence. Refunds for courses are dealt with in our Refunds and Cancellation Policy.
9. Terms for Facilities and Network Operators
If you use Maatla Facilities as a clinic, pharmacy or healthcare network, you also agree to the following.
You are responsible for having the lawful right and the necessary consent to load and process patient information on the platform. You will use role based access correctly and give staff only the access their role requires. Prepaid credit is used to pay for usage such as messaging, and is subject to our Refunds and Cancellation Policy. You will use patient information only to deliver care and not for any unlawful or unrelated purpose.
10. Messaging and Consent
Our reminder and check in messages are sent only after you opt in. Message and data charges from your mobile network may apply. You can stop messages at any time by replying STOP or emailing info@maatlahealthcare.com. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy and Patient Consent and Rights Notice.
11. Medical Disclaimer
The Services are for support and education and do not replace professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Always seek the advice of a qualified health provider with any question about a medical condition. In an emergency, call 10177 or 112. This disclaimer forms part of these terms.
12. Intellectual Property
The Maatla name, logo, Content, courses, software and design are owned by or licensed to Maatla and are protected by law. We grant you a limited, personal, non transferable right to use the Services for their intended purpose. You may not copy, modify, resell or distribute our Content without our written permission.
13. Your Content
If you submit content to the Services, such as messages or feedback, you keep your rights in it, and you give us permission to use it as needed to provide and improve the Services. You are responsible for the content you submit and confirm you have the right to share it.
14. Third Party Services
The Services rely on third parties such as messaging, hosting and payment providers, and may link to other websites. We are not responsible for third party services or websites, and your use of them is subject to their own terms.
15. Disclaimers
The Services are provided on an as is and as available basis. To the extent the law allows, we do not guarantee that the Services will always be available, uninterrupted, error free or fit for a particular purpose. You use the Services at your own risk, subject to your non waivable rights under South African law.
16. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Maatla is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, data or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the Services. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the three months before the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including under the Consumer Protection Act.
17. Indemnity
You agree to cover Maatla for reasonable losses, claims and costs that arise from your misuse of the Services, your breach of these terms, or your infringement of the rights of another person.
18. Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or end your access to the Services if you break these terms, if we must do so to comply with the law, or to protect the Services or other users. You may stop using the Services at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination, such as intellectual property, disclaimers and limitation of liability, will continue to apply.
19. Privacy
Our handling of your personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
20. Changes to These Terms and Conditions
We may update, amend or replace these Terms and Conditions at any time, at our sole discretion. Because our services and the laws that govern them change, we may make these changes without giving you individual notice or separate communication.
Any change takes effect from the moment the updated version is published on our website or otherwise made available on our platforms. The version shown on our website at any given time is the version that applies. By continuing to visit our website, use our services, or receive our messages after a change has been published, you accept the updated version and are bound by it.
We encourage you to review these Terms and Conditions regularly so that you are aware of the current terms. Nothing in this clause removes any right you have under South African law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
21. Governing Law and Disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. You agree that the South African courts have jurisdiction over any dispute, subject to any right you have to approach a relevant regulator or ombud. We encourage you to contact us first at info@maatlahealthcare.com so we can try to resolve any issue directly.
22. General
Severability. If any part of these terms is found to be invalid, the rest continues to apply.
Entire agreement. These terms, together with the documents they refer to, are the whole agreement between you and us.
Assignment. You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our consent. We may transfer ours as part of a business transfer.
Events beyond control. We are not liable for failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
